The morning I decided to start Dima, I was standing in a farmhouse kitchen that wasn’t mine, holding a cup of coffee that had gone cold an hour earlier, looking at a Pinterest board I’d been quietly building for three years and never told anyone about.
It had over four hundred pins. Cowgirl boots paired with oversized denim. Sun-bleached barn doors. Dusty trail rides at golden hour. Home decor that looked like it belonged somewhere between a Texas ranch and a French countryside cottage. I hadn’t built it for a job or a project. I built it because it made me feel like myself in a way very little else did.
That was the morning Dima started, although it didn’t have a name yet.
Why Western and Rustic, Specifically
I grew up in a place that had nothing to do with ranches or wide-open plains, and yet something about the aesthetic always pulled at me — the worn leather, the warm earth tones, the idea that a home or an outfit could feel lived-in and beautiful at the same time. It wasn’t about costume. It was about a way of living that felt unhurried, textured, and honest.
The more I looked, the more I noticed how scattered the good inspiration was. Gorgeous photos with no context. Outfit ideas with no explanation of how to actually recreate them. Home decor boards with nothing that told you where to start if your space looked nothing like the picture. So I started writing the posts I wished existed — ones that didn’t just show you a pretty photo, but walked you through why it worked and how to bring a piece of it into your own life.
